I agree with another post about smaller houses incorporating Universal Design features such as zero entry (may be wrong terminology, but no step at the entry), bedroom, full bath, laundry, ... on the first floor.

Some seniors that we have talked with echoed the other comment about not being able to find suitable housing to downsize to. From those that we talked to, it sounded like they would prefer to stay in their current neighborhood, or at a minimum within city limits.
