My definition of family friendly businesses:
Businesses that sell items used every day or very frequently at a low price.

Example family friendly businesses:
Target, Walmart, Cosco, Big 5, Kohls, grocery stores, Kmart, Big Lots

I do not have a good GIS system, but it seems to me that Littleton does not have hardly any family friendly businesses. The only ones within city limits seems to be Kmart on Broadway by Belleview and Big Lots on Broadway near C470.

While King Soopers and Safeway are ok, they are not the lowest cost grocery stores. We, and a growing number of our friends, will travel the extra distance to Highlands Ranch to Sunflower Market (on County Line which is in Highlands Ranch) to save on produce. This is right next to Target, so chaining these two together for the weekly grocery shopping is financially prudent for our family.

Thus, I would encourage more family friendly businesses in Littleton.

In my above list, my biggest concern is the size of the parking lots for these types of stores, which seems like an inefficient land use. Having an innovative solution to minimize the parking lot issue would be good. For example my other post on Low Speed Car Districts which would allow more vehicles in a smaller space: http://www.inspirelittleton.org/inspire-littleton-colorado-neighborhood-livability/low-speed-car-districts
